The Adventures:
Every day after school, we met at the old park at the end of our street. It was the kind of park that had seen better days. The swings creaked when you pushed them too high, the slide had patches of rust, and the merry-go-round wobbled whenever anyone tried to spin it too fast. But we loved it. We would climb to the top of the slide and race each other down, laughing all the way. We made up games like “hide-and-seek” and “tag,” but we had our own version of everything. Ravi made sure we played by the rules, and if anyone broke them, he’d call us out in his dramatic voice. “Hey, that’s cheating!” Ravi would yell, pointing his finger in a mock serious way. “Is not!” we’d argue, but secretly, we all knew we were playing just as much to get Ravi’s attention as we were to have fun. On rainy days, we’d play inside the house of whoever had the biggest living room. We’d build forts with blankets and pillows, turning the room into a magical world where we were pirates, knights, or astronauts. Our imagination had no boundaries. Shaan would always come up with the wildest stories, and we’d end up laughing so hard that we could barely breathe. We’d stay up until the night grew late, the dim streetlights outside shining through the windows, and we’d fall asleep, knowing that tomorrow, there’d be another adventure waiting for us.
